Date March 14th, 9AM-12:30PM, room 326 – Designing your Online Course
The first session of a two half-day intensive workshop to introduce participants to the process of designing, planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating online courses. This session explores some key challenges and benefits of online teaching and learning. We review some of the key theoretical underpinning of online course design and associated learning theories and explore some of the instructional design models commonly used in online course design.
Date March 15th, 9AM-12:30PM, room 326 – From Design to Implementation: Filling in the Sketch
This second session explores frameworks for online courses, the nuts and bolts of assessment, communication, and engagement strategies in more depth. We look at the process of building courses that produce communities of online learners. You will begin the process of designing online courses in detail through lesson planning, storyboarding, prototyping, and course evaluation strategies.
