Joy has over 30 years of post-secondary teaching experience at St. Clair College. She began in Continuing Education as a part time instructor and field placement supervisor while working in the fields of children’s mental health, child protection and children’s rehabilitation. Joy began teaching full time in 2004 in the role of Coordinator of the Child and Youth Care Accelerated Program (formerly Child and Youth Worker Accelerated) and has provided support and mentorship to numerous new faculty.

Joy holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work as well as undergraduate degrees in both Psychology and Social Work. Her passion is working with students, teaching and watching her graduates make a difference in the lives of children and youth. Highly committed to her students and program, Joy was the recipient of the 2018 Faculty Excellence Award. This award was established to honor a St. Clair College faculty member who is recognized by their students, colleagues and administrators as being an exceptional educator / counsellor.
