Dee Fink’s (2003) model for integrated course design is a framework for ensuring all three necessary components align: learning objectives (course learning outcomes), instructional strategies (teaching and learning activities), and Assessments. When these components are aligned, instructional strategies reinforce the learning objectives, which in turn validate the assessments to “reveal how well students have learned what we want them to learn” (Carnegie Mellon University).
