Purpose and Outcomes of Program Mapping
The purpose of mapping is to ensure that a program’s course learning outcomes align with its VLOs at the appropriate level of performance. Mapping also provides evidence that the program's VLOs and EESs will be met by the end of the program. In addition, curriculum mapping provides valuable information about the following:
- Appropriate level of performance based on all credential levels of our program offerings
- Presence of performance scaffolding
- Assessment type and frequency reflect the intent of the program
- Capstone assessment and Experiential Learning (EL)/Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL) activities are present and clearly align with program VLOs and program intent
Through new program development, we create the initial program map which is then maintained and revised through various quality assurance processes. Program mapping is one of the phases of the Cyclical Curriculum Review process.
