What is CEDP?

College Educator Development Program (CEDP) is a collaborative undertaking of the five Western Region Colleges. Its mission is to foster teaching excellence through the shared exploration of evidence-based teaching and engagement in ongoing reflective teaching practice. This assessed, outcomes-based program focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

The program creates a learning community that supports the achievement of program learning outcomes, the exchange of best practices and continuous professional growth. Through active learning in a technology-enhanced climate, educators develop a solid pedagogical foundation to design curriculum and engage students in a wide range of transformative learning experiences. Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the College Educator Development Program, you will be able to:

  1. Design lessons and courses that intentionally align learning outcomes, assessment practices, and teaching and learning activities.
  2. Design a variety of evaluation tools and strategies to assess students’ achievement of learning outcomes.
  3. Implement active learning strategies to promote student engagement, agency, and metacognition.
  4. Implement inclusive teaching and learning strategies to foster an environment that is supportive of all learners.
  5. Integrate technology into the design and delivery of educational experiences in ways that enhance and enable student learning.
  6. Adopt evidence-informed professional practices that enhance your teaching identity, philosophy, presence, and contribute to your growth as an Ontario college educator.

St. Clair College has made the completion of CEDP a mandatory requirement for new full-time faculty. The three Phases and other components such as T&L Conversations, Teaching Circles, and a teaching portfolio are completed over three calendar years (August, May, June) or two academic years.

Registration packages for CEDP are sent out approximately five weeks prior to each event.

If you are a new full-time faculty member, feel free to contact the CAE at CAE@stclaircollege.ca to verify that you are on the list of expected attendees for a particular phase.
